Meet Amelia Checca, TCRG

Amelia’s love of Irish dance began at age 12, shortly after moving from Massachusetts to North Carolina and joining the Connick School of Irish Dance. She quickly found not only a sport she loved, but a community that would shape so much of her life.

Within five years, Amelia reached Open Championship and went on to compete in solo and team events at the regional, national, and international level. She also performed throughout the Charlotte area, including with Socks in the Frying Pan and The Nashville Celts, and had the opportunity to learn from former lead dancers from Riverdance and Lord of the Dance.

But one of Amelia’s favorite parts of Irish dance has always been sharing it with others. After years of assisting in classes and working with young children, she traveled to Prague in late 2025 to earn her TCRG (teaching certification) and open Aoibhneas Chroi Irish Dance.

Amelia has a special place in her heart for beginners and loves helping dancers discover the same joy, confidence, friendships, and sense of belonging that Irish dance gave her. She especially enjoys getting to know each student as an individual and creating a welcoming community for children, homeschool families, and adult dancers alike.

Meet Winnie

Winnie is Miss Amelia’s pup. She just turned a year old and has been at the dance studio since she was 9 weeks. She loves all things Irish Dance and her favorite thing to do is say hello to every student that walks through the studio doors!
